The Wicked Will Rise by Danielle Paige

This book was very confusing to say the least. I felt like Amy and Nox’s “romance” got in the way of Amy’s mission and it was just a jumbled mess. There were also parts where I felt like the story dragged on forever. Some of the characters seemed out of place and I found myself cringing once or twice.Don’t get me wrong, the writing style is great, I just didn’t love this part of the story. Since I didn’t really care for this book, I’m contemplating not finishing the series.

Dorothy Must Die by Danielle Paige

Hi everyone, happy Thursday! I hope you all have had fabulous weeks so far. I know I’ve had a really good week because I’m in the middle of a bunch of books.

Recently I read Dorothy Must Die and I absolutely loved it. It was such an interesting take on what happened to Oz after Dorothy melted the witch. I had a few questions about it though. Why weren’t there any conversations between the Lion, the scarecrow, tinman and Dorothy if they used to be friends? Why did they go from the best of friends to not even on speaking terms? There are a few more questions that I have in mind that I would love to ask the author. Other than all my questions, the book was amazing. I really liked the storyline, the plot to “kill Dorothy” was pretty intense and had me literally sitting at the edge of my seat at times, and I loved the witches.

If you’re looking for something new and slightly unusual to read, then I highly recommend Dorothy Must Die. If you like the first one, then check out the other two! The Wicked Will Rise, and Yellow Brick War. Number four comes out later this year and I’m so excited for it.

This year has been a great year for reading thus far! I think my favorite books that I read this year would have to be Nerve, Entwined, A Court of Mist and Fury, Ready Player One, The Selection series, and We Were Liars. I loved all of these books just because they were just so different from one another. Lately I’m really getting into fairy tale re-tellings just because of Entwined and A Court of Thorns and Roses. They were the first re-tellings I’ve read and they were so good that I wanted more. I highly recommend all of these books to anyone who is either looking for something different to read or you’re just trying to get out of a reading slump.
